Notes
Pennington describes the inscriptions included in original state of the image, which is not published in Dugdale's 1658 publication.
In Dugdale's 1658 publication, the left cartouche is replaced by a coat of arms. An inscription is added to the right cartouche: Stella | Orientalis | hue conduxit, | IOHANNEM | WALPOOLE | de Pinchbeck | in Com Linc: | Militem. The letters 'e Pi' of this inscription are alterations. '166' has been added to the upper left corner.
In the Monasticon version, '166' was erased imperfectly, while '297' was added in the lower left corner, not by Hollar. Additionally, there is re-work done on the buttress of the nave.

The eastern part of the cathedral, depicted here, was largely unchanged by Inigo Jones' refacing project in the 1630s.
